Chief Lending Officer | Classic Bank | Cameron, Texas

January 31, 2025

Classic Bank has an opening for a chief lending officer at its Cameron branch. The CLO manages the activities of the Lending and Loan Operations departments, ensuring maximum overall profitability of the bank’s lending activities. Leads and directs the bank’s lending operations, policies and loan portfolio management.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the management, supervision, and direction all lending activities;
  • Must maintain registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS);
  • Promotes growth and profitability of the bank loan portfolio;
  • Provides guidance to officers engaged in lending activities with special attention to the execution of the guidelines and requirements of the loan policy;
  • Promotes business development;
  • Responsible for training, reviewing and evaluating performance, salary administration, and workflow of loan personnel;
  • Participates in the activities of the following committees: Officers’ Loan Committee, Asset/Liability Management Committee, Officers’ Executive Committee, Marketing Committee, CRA Committee, Compliance Committee and Technology Committee;
  • Promotes deposit growth and develops growth goals for all bank locations;
  • Ensures proper lending management is in place in all locations with an emphasis on customer service, profitability, accuracy and efficiency;
  • Formulates, reviews and approves lending policies and procedures. Works with the lending committee to assess the overall soundness of the loan portfolio and advises on policy questions, business development, staff requirements, performance appraisals and salary administration as they relate to the lending functions;
  • Serves as a member of executive management and in the development of long-term planning;
  • Reports to the President and CEO; and
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of lending policies and procedures, including state and federal regulations;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook;
  • Knowledge of loan participation and purchase agreements;
  • Knowledge of secondary marketing investment programs;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with customers, other departments and branches;
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including but not limited to computers, calculators and printers;
  • Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting consistent deadlines;
  • Ability to make quick decisions;
  • A positive, outgoing personality; and
  • Must be able to utilize good judgment, demonstrate patience and maintain a professional demeanor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  • 10+ years of related experience and/or training—or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work-related experience should consist of a financial analysis and lending background; and
    Experience working in senior leadership is desirable.

Working Conditions

  • Required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms;
  • Requires corrected hearing in normal range of effective communication via telephone and alarms;
  • Must be able to speak;
  • May be required to either sit or stand for long periods;
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 25 pounds; and
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Considerable effort and eyestrain from continued checking on the accuracy of all work.
