Cupps Named Senior Vice President and Tuscola Market President at Texas National Bank

January 29, 2026

Slade CuppsOn January 5, Sweetwater-based Texas National Bank announced that Slade Cupps has been named senior vice president/Tuscola market president. He succeeds Joel Terry, who retired in 2024 after more than 20 years serving the Tuscola community.

A native of Tuscola, Slade is a true hometown banker who brings a decade of community banking experience and a deep understanding of relationship-based lending to his role at Texas National Bank. He began his banking career in Abilene as a teller and has since progressed through roles including loan processor, commercial credit analyst, banking officer, vice president/lender and now senior vice president/market president.

Cupps holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with a minor in accounting from Hardin-Simmons University. He has also completed the coursework at the IBAT Lending Institute.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Slade home to serve the Tuscola community,” says Mike Fernandez, president and CEO. “He is only the third banker to serve Tuscola in the past 50 years, so it was important to us to find someone local who truly understands our customers and this community. We found our guy, and we are certain that his leadership will ensure that we are positioned for sustainable, relationship-driven growth in Tuscola for years to come.”

Established in 1995, Texas National Bank operates full-service locations in Sweetwater and Tuscola, as well as Bankers Lender, the first and only direct digital bank offered exclusively to professionals employed in the banking industry.
