Jesse Cardenas has been named the Abilene regional president of El Campo-based Prosperity Bank. He has 20 years of banking experience, 17 of which have been with Prosperity Bank. He will oversee 12 banking centers in Abilene, Merkel, Cisco, Brownwood, Early, Comanche, Gorman and San Angelo.
Cardenas was named vice president and banking center manager at Prosperity Bank in 2007. After five years, he transitioned to commercial lending and was promoted to senior vice president in 2020. In 2022, he was named banking center president.
Cardenas earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Abilene Christian University and a master’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University. He also attended Texas Tech University’s School of Banking. He serves as board president of Big Country CASA and has worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and Hispanic Business Council. He was also a recipient of the “Top 20 Under 40” award.
Established in 1949, Prosperity Bank has more than 300 banking offices in Texas and Oklahoma.
