On March 18, Harvey P. Hartenstine, president and chief banking executive of San Antonio-based Broadway Bank, and David McGee, Houston-based Amegy Bank’s Central Texas CEO, were inducted into the San Antonio Business Hall of Fame, along with Elaine Mendoza, founder, president and CEO of Conceptual MindWorks Inc. The prestigious honor, presented annually by Junior Achievement of South Texas, recognizes the community’s most esteemed business leaders whose vision, innovation, integrity and leadership have contributed to San Antonio’s prosperity and development. The event serves as a fundraiser to support Junior Achievement’s mission of providing financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship education to students in South Texas.
Hartenstine has had a 44-year career in banking. He has led Broadway Bank’s expansion into new Texas markets, where he’s held various leadership roles, including president of the Austin region and group executive vice president of private banking. He has extensive board involvement, including The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation and Mission Road Ministries, recently serving as 2024 Shindig co-chair, which raised more than $1 million to benefit adults with special needs. His academic contributions have included the establishment of the Hartenstine Endowment at Texas State University, where he previously served as an adjunct professor. Hartenstine has been recognized with the esteemed Richard Goldsmith Volunteer Leadership Award from Crosspoint Inc. He holds advanced degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Our Lady of the Lake University and Texas State University.

In addition to his induction into the San Antonio Business Hall of Fame, Hartenstine will also be honored in May by the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame at Sam Houston State University, acknowledging his extensive contributions to the banking industry and community. Fellow honorees this year include Sam H. Burris, Charles G. Cooper, Robert W. “Bobby” Hoxworth and William A. Nesbitt.
McGee has been part of the Texas banking industry for more than 25 years and with Amegy Bank for more than 18 years. Prior to joining Amegy Bank, he was president of the San Antonio region for JPMorgan Chase Bank. McGee earned his BBA degree in economics and finance from the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University. He serves the community on several boards, including the SAWS board of trustees and Greater:SATX board of trustees. He is a commissioner on the City of San Antonio Charter Review Commission. He has also served on the boards of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and YMCA San Antonio.
