Broadway Bank’s Cavazos Receives American Bankers Association’s 2024 “Emerging Leader Award”

Jacob CavazosJacob Cavazos, senior vice president/community reinvestment manager at San Antonio-based Broadway Bank, has been named one of 12 national recipients of the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) 2024 “Emerging Leader Award.” This annual program honors rising bank leaders who demonstrate exceptional commitment to excellence, innovation and service to their industry and communities.

“This year’s ABA Emerging Leaders are an impressive group of rising stars,” says Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. “We are excited to see what the future brings as they continue to innovate and elevate our industry going forward.”

The winners were selected by a diverse steering committee of industry professionals after a review of nominations from banks across the country. The qualities and characteristics the committee evaluated as judging criteria included dedication to the profession, inventiveness, leadership skills, mentoring ability, personal integrity, tenure at the bank and broader commitment to a career in banking, sustained career progress and academic training, including advanced degrees and certificates/certifications.

Cavazos manages Broadway Bank’s efforts supporting affordable housing, economic development, education, social services, community revitalization and the bank’s overall corporate philanthropic giving strategy. He holds a BBA degree from the University of Texas–San Antonio and was recognized by the San Antonio Business Journal as a 2022 “40 Under 40” honoree. Cavazos currently serves on the board of directors for Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CISSA), the SAISD Foundation, the University of Texas San Antonio Alumni Association and South Texas Business Partnership. He also serves on the advisory board for CASA and is a member of the advisory committees for United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County and the University of Texas Chancellor’s Centurions. He currently chairs Broadway Bank’s community reinvestment committee and serves on the its grants and foundation management, donations committee and diversity and inclusion employee committees.

Established in 1941, Broadway Bank serves San Antonio, Austin, the Texas Hill Country and Dallas.
