40-Year Dallas Fed M&A Regulator Mahalik Joins Vista Bank

April 30, 2025

Bob MahalikOn April 30, Dallas-based Vista Bank announced the appointment of Bob Mahalik, a seasoned financial expert with more than 40 years of regulatory experience at the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank, to senior vice president, director of strategic initiatives and mergers-and-acquisitions (M&A) advisor. The move signals a deepening of the Vista Bank M&A bench as it positions itself to lead the highly anticipated consolidation of Texas community banks.

At the Dallas Fed, Mahalik played a pivotal role in overseeing and regulating bank consolidations across the region. Recently featured on CNBC discussing the roll-up opportunities in Texas banking, John D. Steinmetz, president and CEO, emphasized the value Mahalik brings to the organization. “Bob’s four decades of regulatory experience give us a competitive edge as we pursue strategic acquisitions. His extensive knowledge of the Texas banking landscape and his ability to navigate complex M&A processes align perfectly with our vision to consolidate community banks that share our commitment to putting ‘People First.’”

“After spending four decades ensuring the stability of banks, particularly as it related to mergers and acquisitions, I saw an opportunity to pivot and directly influence the future of Texas consolidation by joining a bank I believe is well-positioned to make it happen,” Mahalik notes. “Vista’s disciplined growth strategy—executed by a proven, dynamic leadership team—is positioned to create a stronger, more resilient banking network that serves clients and communities across the Lone Star State for the century ahead.”

Established in 1912, Vista Bank serves markets across North, Central and West Texas, as well as Palm Beach, Florida.
