Susser Bank Scouting Classic Benefits Boy Scouts of America’s Circle Ten and Longhorn Councils

April 12, 2023

On April 3, more than 160 golfers participated in the Susser Bank Scouting Classic golf tournament at the Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas (near Grapevine Lake north of Fort Worth). It benefitted the Boy Scouts of America Circle Ten Council and Longhorn Council. The event raised more than $250,000 to support the ScoutReach programs across 47 counties in Texas.

Sam L. Susser, chairman and CEO of Dallas-based Susser Bank, and his wife, Catherine, hosted a dinner in their home on the evening prior to the golf tournament to thank the generous sponsors for their strong support and participation in this inaugural event.

“This was the first time both the Circle Ten Council and the Longhorn Council worked together on an initiative,” Susser says. “This event raised significant funds that will allow underserved young men and women the opportunity to participate in scouting. Catherine and I were pleased to welcome so many supporters of the Boy Scouts of America into our home and we know this event will have a generational impact.”

Together, Circle Ten Council and Longhorn Council serve more than 36,000 young men and women throughout the area. The participating youth and their families enjoy camping and outdoor experiences in eight camps across the Texas counties the organizations serve. In 2022, more than 1,000 young men and women earned the rank of Eagle and performed nearly 178,000 hours of community service in projects to support the community.

Established in 1959, Susser Bank has operated under the ownership and direction of Susser Banc Holdings Corp. since 2018. It operates branches in Dallas, Arlington, Bedford, Fort Worth, Garland, Houston, San Antonio and Round Rock, as well as a loan production office in Austin.
