Mendoza Promoted to Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer at Citizens National Bank

Jesse MendozaBrownwood-based Citizens National Bank has announced the promotion of Jesse Mendoza to executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief operations officer. He brings more than 49 years of banking experience in compliance, lending and operations.

Originally from Clovis, New Mexico, Mendoza earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern New Mexico University and is a graduate of the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

Since moving to Brownwood, he has been actively involved in the community. He currently serves as president of the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and president of United Way of Brown County. He is also treasurer of the Central Texas Veterans Memorial, president of the Brownwood Country Club Golf Association and serves on the Brownwood Fireman’s Relief and Retirement Fund board of trustees. Mendoza is a past president of the local Kiwanis club and remains active with the organization. He is also a member of the Texas Association of Sports Officials and has officiated Texas high school football games for more than 30 years.

In 2025, Mendoza was named “Man of the Year” by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his leadership and service.

“It is an honor and a privilege to get to work alongside Jesse every day,” says JD Johnson, president and CEO. “His contributions to our bank and to the Brown County community cannot be overstated. He is a true professional and an outstanding banker.”

Established in 1934, Citizens National Bank serves Central Texas with two locations.
