On July 20, Houston-based Agility Bank NA, a women-owned and led financial institution, announced that Donette T. Stubblefield has been appointed chief executive officer. She brings 20 years of executive experience in commercial and private banking, wealth management and enterprise strategy.
“Donette is a proven leader here in the Houston banking community and we know that bringing her on as CEO will be transformational for Agility,” says Edna Meyer-Nelson, chair of the Agility Bank board of directors. “She is highly motivated, collaborative and ready to drive our growth strategy into the next phase, delivering value for our staff and shareholders.”
Most recently, Stubblefield served as chief banking executive at a legacy Texas community bank, leading commercial banking, wealth management, private banking and trust functions across multiple Texas markets. During her tenure, she helped drive two of the most profitable years in the bank’s history, resulting in increased growth, employee engagement and strengthening overall performance.
Prior to that, Stubblefield spent over a decade at another large regional bank, serving as the chief fiduciary officer and later as the Houston executive for private banking and wealth. She has a strong record of leading commercial banking strategy, credit governance, market growth, deposit strategy and talent engagement across multi-market communities and regional banks.
“Agility Bank was built to do something that Houston was lacking—a community bank that is serious about helping small- and mid-size businesses grow, especially those that have not historically had a seat at the table,” Stubblefield notes. “When we combine exceptional bankers, disciplined execution and a deep commitment to our clients’ success, we strengthen both our communities and our company.”
Stubblefield invests in the future of community banking through her work with the Sam Houston State University Endowed Chair of Banking, which helps prepare students to become bankers and provides educational programs for community bankers. She is an incoming student at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, Community Banking Institute. She has also been an active member of the Houston community.
Established in 2022, Agility Bank is the first primarily women-owned and led bank created for this purpose in the U.S. awarded a special Minority Depository Institution national charter by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
