VeraBank Welcomes Gerling as Executive Vice President and Central Texas Regional Chair

October 3, 2024

Paul GerlingHenderson-based VeraBank has hired Paul Gerling to serve as executive vice president and regional chairman in its Austin market. He will lead the bank’s business in Travis, Bastrop and Hays counties.

Gerling steps into the role following an extensive career in the Austin financial sector. With 34 years of banking experience, he previously led all Central Texas commercial banking activities for Comerica Bank. Prior to that, he was Comerica Bank’s Austin market president and before that led its technology banking practice. In all, he served for 22 years at Comerica Bank. Gerling is a lifelong Austin resident and holds a BBA degree in finance from the University of Texas and an MBA degree from St. Edwards University.

“Since we entered the Austin market in 2020, we’ve built an experienced team of bankers who have a proven track record of cultivating strong, lasting partnerships,” says Brad Tidwell, president and CEO. “Paul’s strategic leadership is instrumental in further solidifying our commitment to develop relationship-based connections across Central Texas.”

Established in 1930, VeraBank serves 19 counties in East, Central and Southeast Texas with 39 branches.
