Miranda and Rodriguez Promoted at WestStar Bank

May 11, 2022

El Paso-based WestStar Bank has announced the promotion of Liliana Miranda to executive vice president/chief commercial banking officer. She will be responsible for leading the commercial lending and treasury management groups. She also oversees WestStar Title Co. In addition, Socorro Rodriguez has been promoted to senior vice president/deputy chief financial officer. In this new role, she will manage the accounting department and tax and treasury department, as well as serve as senior investment officer. Key responsibilities of this role include oversight of financial and regulatory accounting and reporting, budgeting, liquidity and interest rate risk management, tax planning and preparation, and investment portfolio management.

Banker NameMiranda has served in many senior roles within the bank, including auditor and chief risk officer. Her previous responsibilities included overseeing WestStar Bank’s governance and strategy for risk management and compliance, internal audit and loan review.

Miranda has a BBA degree in accounting from the University of Texas–El Paso and is a certified public accountant in Texas. She is also a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University and received the Recognition of Leadership honor. Miranda is involved with many community organizations and currently serves on the executive board of the Texas chapter of the Risk Management Association.

Socorro RodriguezRodriguez previously served as treasurer at WestStar Bank. She has 20 years of banking experience, all spent with WestStar.

Rodriguez has a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas–El Paso and is a certified public accountant in Texas. She is currently attending the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking with anticipated graduation in 2024. She is a member of the finance/audit/IT committee for the Paso Del Norte Health and Community Foundations.

Established in 1990, WestStar Bank serves the El Paso, Las Cruces, and northern Mexico area—collectively known as the Borderplex region).
