In December, Midland-based West Texas National Bank announced that is expanding into Plainview and Lockney, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. The bank opened its Lubbock location at 6502 Slide Rd. last August. This month, it opened a temporary full-service branch in Plainview and a loan and deposit production office in Lockney.
The bank’s Plainview branch is temporarily located at 500 Dallas St., Ste. A, until construction is completed at the permanent location at 3320 Olton Rd. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2024. Willis McCutcheon is serving as Plainview market president. He has more than 40 years of banking experience and a BBA degree in finance and management from Texas Tech University.
“Moving into the South Plains market was a natural fit for West Texas National Bank,” Chris Whigham, president, told the Avalanche-Journal. “Having recently opened a branch in Lubbock, we see this as an opportunity to greater serve the South Plains region. With our deep experience and expertise in agribusiness lending, we understand the challenges that come with the industry, and also how vital it is to our region and our state. We’re excited to support these new communities and the industries within them.”
“The bottom line is that it’s the people that make the difference,” McCutcheon told the Avalanche-Journal. “WTNB is committed to a strong local team of bankers making decisions at the local level and to serving and growing our communities.”
Established in 1904, West Texas National Bank operates 13 branches across West Texas and the Texas Panhandle.
