The war is doing more to place women on an equal footing with men in business than all the other influences that have swept across the American scene since Priscilla asked John Alden to speak up for himself 300 years ago.
The first of the year the San Angelo National Bank had 21 men and four women employees. As of today, it has 12 men and 16 women. Ray B. Johnson, executive vice president, who just scratches 50, is the “old man” in the bank. All other officers and employees are under 44. “That’s what we get for trying to build a bank from young men,” Mr. Johnson chuckled.
