VeraBank Welcomes Becka and Lyon to College Station Branch

May 12, 2022

Henderson-based VeraBank has hired Melanie Becka and Baylor Lyon for its lending team. Becka will serve as senior vice president of mortgage lending and Lyon as vice president of commercial lending.

“We continue to grow our talented team of bankers in Bryan-College Station,” says Joel Jackson, senior vice president/regional manager. “Melanie brings extensive mortgage experience with a focus on area homeowners, realtors and builders. Baylor is extremely involved in the community and understands the value of relationships with commercial clients.”

Melanie BeckaBecka started her career in banking as a teenager and brings more than 24 years of experience to her new role. As a mortgage lender, she will be helping customers with all types of home lending, including purchase, refinance and construction. Becka earned a degree in agribusiness from Texas A&M University. Becka is involved with many local nonprofits, including the Greater Brazos Valley Home Builder Association, Burleson County Chamber of Commerce, Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce, Bryan College Station Realtor Association and Women’s Council of Realtors.

Lyon has been in banking for more than 13 years, including five years of Baylor Lyoncommercial lending experience. He earned a degree in agriculture leadership with an emphasis in business from Texas A&M University. Lyon is committed to community involvement and currently serves on the board of directors for the Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Brazos Alumni Association and Junior Achievement.

“Their commitment to building lasting relationships and collaborative approach to finding the best solutions for our customers make them both excellent additions to our bank,” says Brad Tidwell, president and CEO.
