VeraBank Awards Scholarships to Five High School Seniors

May 31, 2023

Henderson-based VeraBank has awarded five $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school students whose parents are employed at the bank. The recipients of the 2023 scholarships are:

  • Grant Ashby, Lufkin High School, Lufkin;
  • Ryland Carlile, Florence High School, Florence;
  • Tiyah Courville, Cayuga High School, Cayuga;
  • Riley Lux, Sabine High School, Gladewater; and
  • Aspen Woodall, Sabine High School, Gladewater.

“Seniors are our next generation of leaders and VeraBank is honored to support these students as they pursue their goals through higher education,” says Brad Tidwell, president and CEO. “We believe it takes a community to raise a family and we take great interest in helping our youth.”

The VeraBank scholarship program began in 2017 and has since awarded $80,000 to 35 recipients. Scholarship recipients, all of whom are children of VeraBank employees, are selected by a committee each year and the identity of each applicant remains anonymous throughout the selection process. Selections are based on the student’s merit, academic performance, content and completeness of replies and application, as well as school and community involvement.

Established in 1930, VeraBank serves 16 counties in East, Central and Southeast Texas with a network of 40 branches, $3.9 billion in assets and trust assets under management of approximately $950 million.
