The First National Bank of Central Texas Opens Banking Center in Gatesville

August 3, 2023

Waco-based The First National Bank of Central Texas recently opened a new banking center in Gatesville. A new facility is currently under construction at  2908 E. Main St. It is expected to open in late 2023 or early 2024. Currently, the bank is operating a temporary location at 1400 E. Main St. in Gatesville.

“We are very excited to be expanding to Gatesville and Coryell County,” says Joe Barrow, chairman and CEO. “The market absolutely fits with our culture and values.”

Will Coward will serve as president of the Gatesville location. He is an experienced community banker who is very familiar with the Gatesville community. He has hired Alicia Schaaf as assistant vice president. She is an experienced banker who will serve as a lending assistant in Gatesville.

“Will is the perfect person to head up our banking center,” Barrow notes. “He is a fourth-generation Coryell County resident and [has been a] banker for more than 20 years.”

“I have personally experienced their commitment to relationship banking and am glad to be part of a bank that makes that a priority,” Coward says. “I am very excited about the new banking center that is under construction. It is going to be a nice addition to Gatesville’s business community.”

Established in 1901, The First National Bank of Central Texas has locations in Waco, Woodway-Hewitt, College Station, China Spring, Gatesville, Hillsboro and Mart.
