McGregor-based TFNB Your Bank for Life is moving from the East Waco location it has temporarily occupied at 715 Elm Ave. into the newly renovated Gladstone Knight building across the street at 700 Elm Ave. This will be the permanent location for TFNB Your Bank for Life’s East Waco location.
“The historic Gladstone Knight building has been a focal point for decades in both the immediate neighborhood and greater East Waco community,” says David Littlewood, chairman and CEO. “It’s in that vein [that] we have restored this iconic landmark to honor the legacy of the community and Reverend Knight.”
Reverend Gladstone Knight purchased the building in 1990 to establish the nonprofit Community Training Center in East Waco. His vision was for the children of East Waco to have something they could call their own and be able to follow dreams that may have seemed impossible in the past. The center continued its mission until Knight was sidelined with health issues in 2016.
TFNB just marked its two-year anniversary in East Waco. The bank now offers a full-service location equipped with a drive-through lane, expanded parking and dual ATMs on each side of Elm Ave.
“This is great news for economic development in Waco,” says Waco Mayor Dillon Meek. “Accessibility to bank services is critical for economic development. TFNB’s presence in East Waco is a vehicle to expedite economic prosperity in our city. I am thankful for TFNB‘s commitment to all of Central Texas.”
Established as The First National Bank of McGregor in 1889, TFNB is the oldest bank in McLennan County and the seventh oldest national bank in Texas still operating under its original charter. Today, TFNB has grown to just under $750 million in total assets with five locations in Central Texas.
