On June 15, Harlingen-based Texas Regional Bank held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction for its new banking center in Rio Grande City. The event commemorates the bank’s 30th location in Texas and 14th in the Rio Grande Valley region. The branch, located at 4389 E. U.S. Hwy. 83 Loop, is scheduled to be completed in early 2024.
Michael Scaief, chairman and CEO, expressed his admiration for the historical architecture of Rio Grande City and how it has influenced Texas Regional Bank’s banking centers. “Several years ago, I toured downtown and fell in love with the architecture,” Scaief says. “Today, every TRB branch built in the Rio Grande Valley was inspired by Rio Grande City brickwork.”
The construction of the Rio Grande City banking center will utilize 115,000 artisan handmade bricks.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by guests, community leaders, local officials and bank team members, including Scaief, Dr. Antonio Falcon, Mayor Joel Villarreal and Texas State Representative Ryan Guillen. Villarreal expressed gratitude toward Texas Regional Bank for investing in the community. He praised the positive growth and direction of the area and welcomed the bank as a valuable addition to the community.
