In late March, USA Today and Energage released its fifth annual list of America’s Top Workplaces, which includes several Texas-based banks. A nationwide competition open to organizations with 150 employees or more, Top Workplaces recognizes companies that foster exceptional work cultures.

Winners are determined by confidential surveys conducted by Energage, a human resources research and technology company. Surveys measure employee satisfaction in areas ranging from benefits and compensation to overall support and growth opportunities, and alignment with company values, leadership and direction. More than 42,000 organizations were invited to participate in the 2025 awards, with 1,526 receiving recognition.

The survey results identify winners in four categories: companies with more than 2,500 employees, companies with 1,000 to 2,499 employees, companies with 500 to 999 employees and companies with fewer than 499 employees.

“Happy employees who feel rewarded in their work stay with a company for the long term and provide better customer service,” says Robert Mrlik, president and CEO of Central Bank, which was established nearly 70 years ago in Houston’s Montrose district. “Our team is filled with the best in the business, and we are grateful to know our employees appreciate our efforts just as much as we appreciate them.”

Here are the Texas-based banks that made the 2025 America’s Top Workplaces list:

Company size 1,000–2,499 employees:

• No. 6: PrimeLending, A PlainsCapital Company, Dallas, 1,350 employees (fourth time on the list);
• No. 26: Cornerstone Capital Bank, Houston, 1,512 employees (third time on the list);
• No. 67: PlainsCapital Bank, Dallas, 1,022 employees (third time on the list); and
• No. 98: Q2, Austin, 1,696 employees (fourth time on the list).

Company size 500–999 employees:

• No. 23: Broadway Bank, San Antonio, 591 employees (second time on the list);
• Additional winner: American National Bank of Texas, Terrell, 534 employees (fourth time on the list); and
• Additional winner: Hilltop Securities, Dallas, 765 employees (second time on the list).

Company size 150–499 employees:

• No. 7: Central Bank, Houston, 163 employees (second time on the list);
• Additional winner: Hilltop Holdings, Dallas, 490 employees (second time on the list); and
• Additional winner: Jefferson Bank, San Antonio, 372 employees (second time on the list).
