National Bank of Andrews Celebrates 40 Years of Service

September 14, 2023

The National Bank of Andrews is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Since forming in March 1983, the bank has grown alongside the hard-working West Texas community it serves. In 1995, the National Bank of Andrews joined forces with the First National Bank of Andrews, strengthening its presence in the community. That same year, the bank opened its motor bank, followed by the banking convenience center at Porter’s Thriftway in 2002.

For the past 40 years, the bank’s success has laid in the hands of its leadership team: Russell Shannon, chairman of the board and CEO; Ricky Kidd, president; and Debbie Rulestead, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Russell’s previous service on the boards of the Texas Bankers Association, Independent Bankers Association of Texas and Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas have helped him gain experience and appreciation for the banking community. While serving as the bank’s chairman and CEO, he has also held roles with the Andrews County Hospital Foundation, Andrews United Way board, Andrews Chamber of Commerce and Andrews ISD board.

Kidd’s journey at the National Bank of Andrews began in 1983. Over the years, he has served in various roles, including being named assistant vice president of lending in 1985. His leadership and experience led to his appointment as executive vice president and chief lending officer in 2019.

Rulestead started her banking career in 1974 and has been with the National Bank of Andrews since 1983. She oversees the bank’s regulatory reporting, payroll and employee benefit programs. Rulestead holds other responsibilities, including service on the boards of Andrews Bancshares and Permian Basin Abstract Co., a title insurance company.

“We have had the honor of committing to the dedication of building a robust and reliable bank for customers,” the bank notes in a statement. “The National Bank of Andrews is proud to have served its community for the past 40 years and is grateful to continue to put Andrews as its priority for years to come.”
