Jeff Samples, president of Laredo-based IBC Bank Houston, has been promoted to chairman and CEO in Houston. With more than 40 years of banking experience, he currently oversees the commercial banking department, which has more than $1.5 billion in funded loans, and is personally responsible for a loan portfolio of over $1 billion in loan commitments. Samples also manages retail and commercial lending officers. For the past 27 years he has served on the IBC Bank Houston board of directors.
Prior to joining IBC Bank, Samples served as division manager of commercial banking at BBVA–Compass Bank in Houston. He received his credit training at Interfirst Houston (now Bank of America). His area of expertise is commercial real estate with a focus on retail centers, multi-family and lot development.
Samples earned his BBA degree in finance from Baylor University. An active community leader, he currently serves on the Covenant House Texas board, supporting homeless youth in Houston, and leads as event chairman for its Guts and Glory obstacle course event. Previously, Samples served on the boards of Be An Angel and YES College Prep. He has also coached multiple baseball, basketball and soccer teams for youth in the community.
