On March 1, San Antonio-based Frost Bank announced that it has reached an agreement in principle for a major sponsorship totaling $1 million to support the redevelopment of the Alamo. The sponsorship will support the revitalization and improvement of the Alamo’s historic buildings and grounds, delivering an updated experience to the 1.6 million guests visiting the Texas tourist destination each year. For its sponsorship, Frost Bank will be designated as the “Official Bank of the Alamo.”
“Frost and the Alamo are both longstanding Texas institutions, and we’re proud to play a role in the revitalization of this site that’s so important to the state’s history,” says Phil Green, chairman and CEO.
“Through Frost Bank’s generous partnership, we’re embarking on an exciting chapter in the Alamo’s history,” says Dr. Kate Rogers, executive director of the Alamo Trust Inc. “Frost’s support as the official bank of the Alamo—with its deep roots and enduring legacy in Texas—fills us with pride. It’s a collaboration that truly honors our past while investing in our future.”
Alamo Trust Inc. is a nonprofit organization that oversees the daily operations at the Alamo and implementation of the Alamo Plan. In 1960, the Alamo was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark, and in 2015, it became part of the Lone Star State’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition to Frost Bank’s designation as the official bank of the Alamo, its support includes title sponsorship of the Alamo’s future online app and interactive experience, on which visitors to the site will be able to use mobile devices to see what the grounds looked like at the time of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836.
Frost Bank’s Alamo sponsorship announcement comes on the eve of Texas Independence Day and the Alamo’s 1724 Gala. It also follows announcements of other major Frost Bank sponsorships, including last year’s deal to secure the naming rights at the Frost Bank Center, as well as the Frost Plaza at the Rock at La Cantera and the Frost Club inside the Boeing Center at Port San Antonio.
Established in 1868, Frost Bank serves the Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Permian Basin, Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio regions.
