Frontier Bank of Texas and Broadway Bank Named Two of Austin’s Top Workplaces

December 30, 2022

In mid-December, the Austin American-Statesman, in tandem with Top Workplaces, unveiled its 2022 list of the “Greater Austin Top Workplaces,” and two Texas-based banks were included: Elgin-based Frontier Bank of Texas San Antonio-based Broadway Bank. The Statesman recognized 127 companies and organizations in greater Austin on its 2022 list.

“This bank was founded on a culture of service to others—to our customers, to our communities and to each other,” says Patrick Johnson, Frontier Bank of Texas’ CEO. “That’s the vision shared by the people who started this bank and by our founding leadership, many of whom are still the heart of this bank today, and it’s what makes this such a great place to come to work day after day.”

“Our success as a community bank and a company is directly linked to our ability to recruit and retain highly engaged and motivated employees,” notes Amanda Osmera, vice president/director of people and development at Frontier Bank of Texas. “Our people are essential to everything we are as a bank.”

“Our culture is built on the ideas, values and innovations of our talented Broadway Bankers, and we are thankful to all our employees for the continued drive and spirit they bring to our bank,” Broadway Bank posted on its Facebook page. “This recognition is very special to us as we nurture career growth, launch new learning resources and promote our D&I and well-being programs.”

“Greater Austin Top Workplaces” for 2022 was determined by a proprietary calculation based on confidential surveys of nominee companies conducted by the Statesman and Energage, the creators and administrators of the “Top Workplaces” program. The study measures employee attitudes by addressing four culture-based imperatives that investigate communication, individual needs, manager effectiveness, employee engagement, team benefit basics and trust in leadership. The confidential responses are compared to local and national benchmarks and ranked.

“To be ranked among the best employers in the entire Austin metro is a testament to our people and to our customers,” says Kirk Watson, Frontier Bank of Texas’ chair and recently elected mayor of Austin. “From day one, this has been an institution built on people serving people. If the result of that singular focus is to be recognized as one of the best workplaces in one of the most dynamic and competitive markets in the country, we are certainly honored and congratulate and thank every member of the Frontier team.”

Broadway Bank was also recognized as one of San Antonio’s top workplaces. Bankers Digest will report on other Texas communities’ “Top Workplaces,” including San Antonio, soon.

Frontier Bank, celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2022, opened for business in Bastrop County in 2007. Today, it employs 76 people and operates nine locations across Austin and much of the surrounding Central Texas area. Markets served by the bank include Austin, Elgin, Bastrop, Manor, Leander, Round Rock, Buda and Taylor.

Established in 1941, Broadway Bank serves San Antonio, Austin, the Texas Hill Country and Dallas with more than 30 locations. The bank recently entered the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex market and has plans to expand further in that region.
