On April 22, five legendary bankers were inducted into the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame during the Eighth Annual Texas Bankers Hall of Fame Gala on the campus of Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Huntsville. These prestigious bankers—the late James B. Bexley, Lloyd R. Ferguson, William David Lacy, Victor Pierson and Allan James Rasmussen—were recognized for their positive achievements and many contributions to the banking industry and their communities.
The ceremony, which was originally scheduled to be held in spring 2020 but was postponed due to the onslaught of the COVID pandemic, was a welcomed return to an in-person celebration of the best in Texas banking. Most of those at the gala indicated that this was the first in-person event they had attended in more than a year since the pandemic hit, so it was a celebration on multiple fronts.
Lacy, Pierson and Rasmussen were in attendance to accept their Texas Bankers Hall of Fame plaque; the late James Bexley was represented by his son, Byron Bexley, and Lloyd Ferguson, unable to attend, was represented on stage by his son, Randall Ferguson.

Proceeds from the gala support the Sam Houston State University banking program, as well as the executive MBA scholarship, which provides $5,000 to attend the program in banking and financial institutions at SHSU.
