Gilmer-based First National Bank of East Texas is renovating a building at 1701 W. Loop 281 in Longview where a Capital One branch used to operate. The new branch of First National Bank of East Texas will open in May or June, according to the Longview News-Journal. The 3,000-square-foot building is undergoing a complete renovation, so material availability will play a critical role in the timeline of the branch’s opening. According to the News-Journal, the new location will employ six initially, but more associates will be added as growth occurs.
“First National Bank of East Texas has many customers who reside and work in both Upshur and Gregg counties,” Danny Weems, president and CEO, told the newspaper. “This location provides First National Bank of East Texas [with] a much better opportunity to serve our customers and provide the resources our customers need and desire. This new addition to our network of branches will offer First National Bank of East Texas current and future customers better access to our online and in-person banking and lending services, as well as our comprehensive suite of products.”
Established in 1900, First National Bank of East Texas operates 10 branches in Big Sandy, Diana, Emory, Mineola, Mount Vernon, Ore City, Pittsburg and Quitman.
