Houston’s longest-serving independent bank, Central Bank, announced that it has once again been recognized as one of the region’s premier employers. The bank was named among the Houston Chronicle’s “2025 Top Workplaces,” placing first among mid-sized companies (150–499 employees). Winners were announced during a November 6 awards luncheon, marking Central Bank’s third consecutive Top Workplaces win. The only other bank to make the 2025 list was Choudrant, Louisiana-based Origin Bank, which placed No. 17 on the mid-sized list.
Open to companies in the Houston area that employ 50 or more regional workers, Top Workplaces highlights those that excel in creating exceptional work environments. Results are based solely on confidential employee feedback from surveys administered by employee engagement technology company Energage. Questions measure employee experience and satisfaction in areas such as pay and benefits, respect and support in the workplace and opportunities for growth.
In addition to its Top Workplaces recognition, Central Bank received the “Manager’s Award,” a special honor that highlights the strength of a company’s leadership and the trust its team places in management.
“When people enjoy what they do and know their contributions matter, everyone wins—our team, our customers and our community,” notes Robert Mrlik, president and CEO. “We are proud of our incredible employees and deeply appreciative of the trust they place in us. Our team is the true heart of who we are as a company.”
Established in Houston’s Montrose district in 1956, Central Bank operates four locations.
