El Paso-based WestStar Bank has announced the hiring of Marcela Candia as vice president and controller. She will oversee financial and regulatory accounting and reporting for WestStar and will work closely with senior management on implementing new accounting pronouncements and special projects.
Candia joins WestStar with 17 years of experience working for large publicly traded companies. Additionally, she participated in the 2020 El Paso Electric Company-sponsored Leadership Excellence and Development program.
Candia holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas–El Paso and is a certified public accountant in Texas. She participates with Cub Scouts of America, Yucca Council, Pack 3072.
Established in 1990, WestStar Bank serves the El Paso, Las Cruces (New Mexico) and Northern Mexico area—collectively known as the Borderplex region.
