American Momementum Announces a New Hire and Promotion in West Texas

College Station-based American Momentum Bank announced a new hire and a promotion in July.

Scott WinchellThe bank has hired Scott Winchell to serve as senior vice president/market president for Andrews. He will focus on community development, lending and risk management for the Andrews, Seminole and greater Permian Basin markets. Winchell brings nearly 20 years of banking and finance experience to his new job. Prior to his current role, he served as senior vice president/relationship manager at Frost Bank.

“Scott’s deep roots in West Texas and extensive banking experience make him a tremendous asset to our team,” says Jarod Thomas, West Texas president. “His commitment to our communities aligns perfectly with our values.”

Winchell holds a BBA degree in accounting from Texas Tech University. He is actively involved in his community through his membership in the Andrews Lions Club.

Austin NelsonIn addition, American Momentum Bank has promoted Austin Nelson to vice president/commercial relationship manager. He will focus on growing existing banking relationships and pursuing new lending opportunities across the Permian Basin, including West Texas and Southern New Mexico. Nelson most recently served as vice president/commercial portfolio manager for the bank, responsible for underwriting and managing the entirety of the Midland market’s portfolio over the past three years.

Nelson has seven years of experience in banking and finance. Before joining American Momentum Bank, he worked as a commercial portfolio manager at Community National Bank. He holds a BBA degree in finance from Texas Tech University and an MBA degree from the University of Texas–Permian Basin. Active in the Midland community, Nelson serves as treasurer of The Springboard Center and as secretary of the Midland Community Development Corp. He is also involved with the nonprofit Opportunity Tribe and This Generation Church.

“Austin has been a strong contributor to the success of our Midland market,” Thomas notes. “He brings a great balance of financial acumen, community commitment and a true passion for helping clients succeed.”

Established in 2006, American Momentum Bank has 18 full-service banking centers in Texas and nine full-service banking centers in Florida.
