On June 18, Corpus Christi-based American Bank announced plans to open a new location in downtown Corpus Christi. The bank’s new Bay branch will be located in the former Bay Building at 101 North Shoreline Blvd., Ste 100. The new location will open in December 2024.
Over the next several months, the existing offices in the Bay Building will be renovated to offer a new and improved workspace for employees, as well as a modern, convenient branch experience for clients. The building will also change names and be referred to as the American Bank Building.
“Our banking roots are in Corpus Christi, and we’re thrilled to make another important investment in our hometown and banking headquarters,” says Mark Meyer, South Texas region president. “As a community partner to so many businesses and clients throughout the Coastal Bend, we truly appreciate the relationships we’ve been able to forge over the past 54 years. And we are excited to build and grow along with our Corpus Christi neighbors for the next 50-plus years.”
“When my dad helped establish American Bank in Corpus Christi way back in 1970, he had a vision for creating a community bank that would mirror his personal credo, to ‘always do the right thing,’” recalls Patt Hawn Wallace, chair of American Bank Holding Corp., the bank’s parent company. “As we’ve grown over the years, we’ve never lost sight of that. We are not only here to serve our clients. We are here because of them. I’m so grateful for the trust they’ve put in American Bank. I know this new location will be great for our community and great for our clients.”
Established in 1970, American Bank has 19 locations in the Texas communities of San Antonio, New Braunfels, Austin, Goliad, Victoria, Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Rockport and Houston.
