Houston-based Amegy Bank’s Enriching Tomorrow program, which encourages the pursuit of education among students from Title I middle schools, is set to expand this fall into Central Texas and Dallas/Fort Worth after a successful launch year in Houston. The original curriculum provides students with access to business leaders, financial education and innovative pathways to success.
Two-hundred students—100 in Houston on October 5, 60 in Dallas on October 25 and 40 in San Antonio on November 2—have visited or will visit Amegy Bank locations for a day of inspiring conversations. From education and career aspirations to wealth building and the importance of charitable giving, students will hear from successful Texas-based business owners like Houston culinary legend Irma Galvan and auto auction mogul Willis Johnson, professional athletes such as the Dallas Cowboys’ Demetric Evans and local banking experts to discuss real-world experiences, financial tools and solutions available.
“By asking questions that inspire imagination and facilitating space for exploratory discussions, Amegy Bank’s Enriching Tomorrow empowers middle-school students to dream big when it comes to creating the life they want,” says Diane Maben, chief operating officer and creator of Enriching Tomorrow. “Providing access to local, inspirational leaders who have come up and found success in students’ very own communities allows them to visualize the power of staying in school, following their dreams and learning how to make finances work for them.”
Students from Houston schools KIPP Academy West, Mead Middle School, Pro-Vision Preparatory Academy and Spring Branch Middle School; Dallas schools Hector P. Garcia Middle School, KIPP Destiny Middle School and TC Marsh Middle School; and San Antonio’s Hobby Middle School and KIPP Aspire Academy will be in attendance.
