Jerome J. “Buddy” Lednicky Jr., former chairman of State National Bank, passed away on January 1 at his residence in West. He was 84.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and serving in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves, Lednicky launched his banking career, which culminated with his roles as chairman and president of State National Bank in West. He was with State National Bank for 53 years before retiring in 2016. State National Bank was acquired by Citizens State Bank in 2019.
Lednicky was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where he served on the parish council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305, American Legion Post #479, West Community Hospital board, West Rest Haven board, Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo board and West Sports Anglers Club. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, telling stories and watching Texas A&M University Aggie football. He loved hosting and cooking for family gatherings.
Lednicky is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille Lednicky, four children, a brother and three sisters, as well as a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on January 8. A live stream of the service will be provided.
