R Bank Welcomes Matthews as Round Rock Market President

Will Matthews Round Rock-based R Bank has hired Will Matthews to serve as market president in Round Rock. A member of the University of Texas’ Rose Bowl-winning football team and a former player for the NFL’s Detroit Lions, he developed a strong foundation in discipline, teamwork and relationship-building.

Following his football career, he worked in nonprofit fundraising, supporting widows and orphans through organizations around the world before transitioning into commercial real estate and banking.

Over the years, Matthews has built expertise in commercial lending, construction and development financing, government contracting, manufacturing and consumer packaged goods. Most recently, he served as vice president of commercial banking at another institution.

“Will is adept at developing relationships with customers, which perfectly aligns with R Bank’s mission,” says Todd Engemoen, president and CEO. “After growing up in Round Rock, Will returned to Williamson County to raise his family and has immersed himself in the community. His passion for meeting new people and introducing solutions is exciting and what sets him apart as a banker in Central Texas.”

Outside of the office, Matthews is committed to giving back to Central Texas. He serves on several local boards, including the YMCA of Central Texas, Defend the Dream and the Sentinel Foundation. He also serves on the Master of Science in Finance Advisory Council at the McCombs School of Business and the Corporate Advisory Board at the University of Texas. A familiar face to Longhorn fans, Matthews also serves as a sideline reporter for the Longhorn Radio Network, covering University of Texas football games.

Established in 2009, R Bank has nine branches in Central Texas, the Coastal Bend and Fort Worth.
