The Texas Bankers Association (TBA) has announced its board of directors for the 2022–23 fiscal year. Leading the board will be Chairman A. Ford Sasser III with Rio Bank in McAllen; Vice Chair David W. Osborn with WestStar Bank in El Paso; and Treasurer Jan Mills with First National Bank of Winnsboro. The officers’ terms run from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2023. Sasser, Osborn and Mills were installed during TBA’s 137th Annual Convention in Austin on May 19.
In accepting his new role, Sasser says that Texas community banks take pride in “doing everything from sponsoring the little league baseball team to making a multi-million-dollar project come together for a business or the community.”
He adds that the association’s new leadership is determined to keep a focus on local needs—even with political and economic uncertainty emanating from Washington, D.C. “Texas banks were instrumental in saving nearly 1 million small businesses and preserving millions of jobs during the pandemic, so these board leaders and TBA member banks will continue to be reliable and knowledgeable financial partners for families and communities across Texas.”
