Karen Neeley, a longtime Texas attorney who has served countless financial institutions in the Southwest during her 43-year career, has returned to the Austin-based Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) offices as in-house general counsel—just in time for the organization’s 45th Annual Convention being held in Galveston this week. It’s a position Neeley has held since 1989, but for the past decade she has done so from outside the community banking organization while also practicing in the Austin law office of Kennedy Sutherland LLP.
Neeley, a frequent lecturer and noted author on a wide array of banking topics, says that the move to IBAT headquarters will enable her to devote time to a new IBAT Marketing program, Compliance Pathways.
“I am looking forward to focusing my energy on community banking products and services,” she says.
“There is no attorney in Texas better respected by community bankers than Karen Neeley,” says Christopher Williston VI, IBAT president and CEO. “We are pleased to welcome her home to IBAT and have her dedicated to meeting the needs of our members.”
