Pine Bluff, Arkansas-based Simmons Bank has named J. Terry Smith president for the company’s North Texas division. He will lead key banking functions for the Dallas/Fort Worth market, including management for bank product offerings, brand awareness, business development and community engagement.
Smith’s promotion caps 35 years of industry experience in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He previously served as executive vice president and chief lending officer of Southwest Bank, which merged with Simmons Bank in 2018. He played a key role following the merger as Simmons Bank’s regional chairman for Dallas and Fort Worth. In the year preceding his promotion, Smith oversaw a 12.56 percent increase in loans for the bank’s Dallas/Fort Worth market.
Smith holds a master’s degree in finance from the University of Texas–Austin and a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University. He serves as a board member for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Fort Worth Inc. and the Mays Business School’s Commercial Banking Program at Texas A&M University. Smith is a past board member for Dallas Summer Musicals, Christian Community Action and St. Ann Catholic Church.
