Alberto Rios has been promoted to chief operating officer at Amarillo-based Happy State Bank. He succeeds Mikel Williamson, who is now the bank’s president. With more than 20 years in the banking industry, Rios joined Happy State Bank in 2018 as president of the bank’s corporate trust company, GoldStar Trust Co. Previous to his work with GoldStar Trust Co., he spent four years in Bogota, Colombia, as the COO of an international consumer financial services company. Fluent in both Spanish and English, he was accountable for leading six different locations and more than 500 employees. Since 2000, he has risen through the ranks from senior product manager to senior vice president at Capital One Bank, where he received the Circle of Excellence award.
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Rios has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA degree from Georgetown University.
