Texas: SouthStar Bank Pledges up to $25,000 in Franklin Tornado Relief Funds

Moulton-based SouthStar Bank has opened an account dedicated to relief efforts for the tornado that tore through the community of Franklin on April 13, causing an estimated $3.8 million in damages and destroying 55 homes. The bank pledges to match contributions up to $25,000.

Many of SouthStar Bank’s team members reside in Franklin and have seen firsthand the devastation. “It’s sad to see the destruction, but I’m more proud every day to live in Franklin. Everyone is coming out to help where they can,” says Justen Salcido, Franklin branch executive.

The SouthStar Bank board of directors, led by Chairman Paris Schindler, are hopeful that the match incentive will help raise $50,000 in relief efforts. Funds will remain within the local community to best serve those affected.

Those wishing to make a donation can do so by check (made out to Franklin Tornado Victims Relief). Debit/credit card donations can be processed over the phone at 979/828-4168. All 15 SouthStar Bank branches will accept donations through May 10. Locations within Robertson County include Bremond, Calvert, Franklin and Hearne.

SouthStar Bank SSB operates 15 branches across Central Texas.
