Chuck R. Thompson, CEO of Norman-based Republic Bank and Trust, announced that Andy Sherrer has been elected president of the bank, according to The Norman Transcript. Thompson, who has been president of the bank for more than 30 years, will remain CEO. Sherrer, who continues as director of corporate banking and private, professional and executive banking, was formerly one of the bank’s executive vice presidents. He has worked for Republic Bank and Trust for 17 years.
Sherrer earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Oklahoma State University and an MBA degree from the University of Oklahoma. He serves as an adjunct faculty member of the MBA program at the Price College of Business, is past board chair of VisitNorman and currently a board member of the Norman Regional Health Foundation. Additionally, he has a Wharton Leadership Certificate from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Established in 1988, Republic Bank and Trust operates five locations across Cleveland County: three banking offices in Norman, one in Oklahoma City and one in Noble. The bank has total assets of more than $550 million.
