Dallas-based Comerica Bank has promoted Paul Gerling to Austin market president, succeeding Tim Klitch, whose retirement becomes effective May 1. Gerling will retain his title as senior vice president and group manager of Central Texas commercial banking for the bank. Serving Comerica Bank since 2002, Gerling’s responsibilities encompass leading the bank’s business and community development in retail, wealth management, commercial banking and commercial real estate.
“The Austin market will benefit immediately from Paul’s expertise and diverse experience,” says Brian Foley, Comerica Bank Texas market president. “His involvement in the community will also be an asset and help elevate Comerica’s presence in this footprint.”
Gerling is a native of the Texas capital and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas, as well as an MBA degree from St. Edward’s University. He serves on The Bill Munday School of Business advisory board at St. Edward’s University and is an 18-year veteran adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
Established in 1973, Comerica Bank has 11 locations in the Austin area. In addition to Texas, Comerica Bank operates in Arizona, California, Florida and Michigan, with select businesses operating in several other states, as well as in Canada and Mexico.
