San Angelo-based Texas Bank recently announced the election of Casey Barrett as president and chief executive officer. He becomes only the fourth president of the bank since it was founded in 1963 by local investors. Barrett replaces Gary Cox, who has served as president and CEO of Texas Bank for the past 27 years. Cox has been named vice chairman and will continue working for the bank to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
Barrett’s experience includes service at other banks and as a state bank examiner. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University, as well as the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Active in his community, Barrett serves on the board of the San Angelo Livestock Show & Rodeo, as well as the Tax Increment Reinvestment Board, San Angelo Water Advisory Board and Downtown San Angelo Inc.
Texas Bank opened its doors 55 years ago with nine employees, 108 stockholders and $500,000 in exchange assets and cash. The bank currently operates three locations in West Texas.
