In late September, Helena-based Helena Bancshares and its subsidiary, Helena National Bank, announced that John Moore has been hired as president and CEO of both companies. The company’s current president, Tommie Shackelford, will continue as an executive officer and director for the bank, according to a report in Arkansas Business.
With more than 15 years of financial services experience, Moore most recently served at Chambers Bank of Danville as chief credit officer and president of the Northwest Arkansas region. Prior to that, he practiced law, counseling banks and other financial businesses.
Moore is a graduate of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing. He received his juris doctor of law degree from the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas.
Earlier this month, Helena Bancshares Inc. announced that it plans to convert Helena National Bank from a federal charter to a state charter. After the conversion, the bank will change its brand to HNB Bank for an interim period. The bank is required to remove “National” from its name when it is no longer regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Helena National Bank has three locations in Helena/West Helena and one location in each of the communities of Marion (as Crittenden National Bank), Marvell and Wynne.
