Pascagoula-based Merchants & Marine Bank recently promoted several key executives, including Clayton Legear to bank president, succeeding Royce Cumbest in that role. Members of the executive team who will work under Legear’s leadership include Jimmy Conyers, promoted to executive vice president and president of the bank’s Alabama market; Mack Rushing, promoted to executive vice president and chief lending officer; Kristi Burge, promoted to executive vice president and chief retail banking officer; and Elise Bourgeois, who will serve as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Legear has served as a member of the bank’s senior management team for seven years and as executive vice president and COO for the past two years. He is a graduate of Troy University, as well as the School of Banking at Louisiana State University (LSU).
Jimmy Conyers has more 15 years of banking experience and has worked with Merchants & Marine Bank for seven years. He has extensive experience in commercial lending, relationship management and business development. Conyers is a graduate of Auburn University and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
Mack Rushing has worked in numerous roles at Merchants & Marine Bank since being hired as a management trainee in 1988. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and senior lending officer. Rushing is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
Kristi Burge has more than 25 years of banking experience, with 12-plus years of service at Merchants & Marine Bank, most recently serving as senior vice president and senior administrative officer. Burge is a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
Elise Bourgeois has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, auditing and financial management. She has worked with the bank for 12 years and has served as CFO since 2010. Bourgeois is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University.
Royce Cumbest, who still serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer, served as Merchants & Marine Bank’s president continuously from 1985 until Legear was promoted in June of this year.
