Gary West has joined Houston-based Amegy Bank as senior vice president in the company’s private banking group. He will help lead Amegy’s healthcare banking growth strategy by identifying and developing relationships with individual physicians, specialty practice groups and other healthcare-related companies. In addition to his healthcare focus, West will provide customized lending, banking and wealth management services to other professionals, executives, business owners and wealthy families in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
West began his banking career in 1985 with First City National Bank in Houston and has worked for Bank of America, Hibernia/Capital One Bank, Heartland Financial USA and BB&T.
He earned a double degree in finance and human resources management from Texas Tech University. West serves on several advisory boards, including Dallas Real Estate Ministries and serves as a student mentor for the SMU Cox School of Business.
Founded in 1989 as the Northwest Crossing National Bank and soon after changing its name to Southwest Bank of Texas, the name was changed again in 2005 to Amegy Bank. A subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation, Amegy Bank has more than 75 locations in Texas and is one of the largest banks in Houston.
